<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nowadays, WiFi hacking is a common occurrence. Whether your mobile device (PC, tablet or smartphone) is connected to the internet via a private or public WiFi, your connection to the internet may not be as secure or private as you may think. When using WiFi you are vulnerable to theft of your data, or worse - your personal information and finances. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Your Internet Connection</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When in or outside of your home, you connect to the internet via a router. Most home routers have built-in WiFi, and most stores and offices have WiFi added to their network. Since a WiFi service can cost $40/month or more, or you may be asked to pay an hourly charge to connect in public, it's not uncommon for people to search for and use free WiFi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The features that make free WiFi desirable for you also make it desirable for hackers. That being, it requires no authentication to establish an internet connection. And, it may easily be hacked (illegally accessed) to gain access to the online users. Not taking the necessary precautions can lead to lasting harm. For mobile devices, the harm is digital: the theft of your personal data, such as passwords, financial information, and private documents, pictures and videos.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>How Hackers Get Access to Your PC Data</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The most common method of attack is known as “Man in the Middle.” In this method, internet traffic is intercepted between the end-user’s device and the destination by making the victim think the hacker’s machine is the access point to the internet. In this case, you log on to the free WiFi at your location thinking you’re joining the provider's network. But somewhere nearby, a hacker is broadcasting a stronger WiFi signal from their laptop or smartphone. They trick you into using it by labeling it with the location's name (e.g. Library Free WiFi). Recognizing the name of the location where you are, you innocently connect to the hacker’s network. As you surf the web or do your online banking, all your activity is being monitored and even captured by the hacker.<br />
<br />
Also, if you use the location's actual WiFi, it is often unsecured and vulnerable to a hacker's intrusion. Even WiFi that requires a password can be hacked when the hacker uses a password hacking tool.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although antivirus protection and firewalls are reliable methods of cyber defense, they are useless against hackers that gained access to WiFi networks. That's because the hackers are not using virus software to gain access to your devices. You willingly connect your device to an unsecured network essentially allowing the hacker to look at what you are doing.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I read a nice analogy of how theft occurs when you are using public internet. Imagine you are walking on a crowded sidewalk or in a busy mall. You just left one place and you're heading to your next destination. Lots of people are walking around you. While you feel safe, you accidentally bump into another person. While you did not intend to bump into that person, they may have intended to bump into you. The end result is that person picked your pocket.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>What is a VPN?</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With a <b>V</b>irtual <b>P</b>rivate <b>N</b>etwork (VPN), you create a secure, encrypted tunnel between your computer and a remote VPN server. The data is essentially gibberish to anyone who might even be able to intercept it. A VPN will also protect you when you inadvertently connect the the hacker's WiFi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, consider the same scenario about the crowded sidewalk. In this case, before you leave to go to your next destination, you initiate a tunnel that lets you walk privately and securely alongside the other people. Nobody can get into your private tunnel while you have it turned on. Even if they can see you are in your tunnel, they can't see who you are. So, nobody can "pick your pocket".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A VPN can be either hardware or software. For most personal devices, the VPN is a software application or app. For a medium to larger computer network, the VPN may be its own network appliance or software within another network device.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>How a VPN Protects You</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To become protected by a personal VPN, you typically subscribe to a VPN software service. You pay for a subscription monthly or annually, usually at a cost of a few dollars per month. Many of the VPN providers offer a big discount for your initial subscription. Some subscriptions cover one device, others cover multiple devices. Once you install the software on your device, here's what you do when on public WiFi:</div>
<ol>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Using your device, find and connect to the public WiFi, even if it is completely free and does not require a password. That establishes your internet connection.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Now that you have an internet connection, start your VPN app.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Follow the VPN app login instructions. That will connect your device to the VPN service and establish the secure VPN tunnel.</li>
</ol>
<span style="text-align: justify;">You may now surf the web securely.</span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>VPN Providers</u></b></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While I will not recommend any specific VPN app providers in this post, here is a list of a few of the popular VPN software, as per <a href="https://www.cnet.com/best-vpn-services-directory/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>CNET</u></span></a>: <a href="https://nordvpn.com/" style="outline-width: 0px !important; user-select: auto !important;" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>NordVPN</u></span></a>, <a href="https://www.expressvpn.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>ExpressVPN</u></span></a>, <a href="https://www.hotspotshield.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>Hotspot Shield</u></span></a>, <a href="https://www.purevpn.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>PureVPN</u></span></a> and <a href="https://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_US/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><u>CyberGhost VPN</u></span></a>.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Alternatives to Using a VPN</u></b><br />
If you don't yet have a VPN service, consider these steps to reduce your risk of a security breach when using public WiFi:<br />
<ul>
<li>Don’t use public WiFi to shop online, log in to your financial institution, open your email, or access other sensitive sites - <u>not ever</u>! While hackers may see your activity, at least they won't see your means to access data.</li>
<li>Implement two-factor authentication when logging into sensitive sites. That way if hackers have the passwords to your online banking, social media or email accounts, they won’t be able to log in. The online account service will send your device a code (the 2nd level of authentication), but not via the internet (e.g. a text message) to confirm your access.</li>
<li>Turn off the automatic WiFi connectivity feature on your device so it won’t automatically seek out and connect to public internet hot spots.</li>
<li>Turn off your Bluetooth connection on your device when in public places to ensure others are not intercepting your transfer of data.</li>
<li>Acquire an unlimited data plan for your mobile devices. Then, use the device's cellular data plan for your internet activity and stop using public WiFi.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br />
The more you take your chances with using a public WiFi connection, the greater the likelihood that you will suffer some type of security breach. The better you protect yourself, the greater your chance of minimizing the potential damage. Using a VPN is a very reliable way to minimize the risk of a data breach when using public WiFi.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The practice of yoga can range from a peaceful and meditative experience to a vigorous workout. Each variety has a different level of intensity, but any style of yoga is helpful for increasing strength and flexibility. Another recurring theme is focusing on posture and body alignment, which is why yoga can have great benefits for chiropractic health.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Types of Yoga</u></b></div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Ashtanga Yoga: This is a more intense form of yoga to challenge your strength and stamina</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Bikram Yoga: Also called hot yoga, it is practiced in a warm room to encourage flexibility</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Iyengar Yoga: Focuses on proper alignment with precise poses and stretching, which is recommended for those with back and neck pain</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>How it Helps</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
During a yoga pose, focusing on a breathing pattern helps hold the pose to gently strengthen muscles. Yoga poses are designed to engage back and abdominal muscles, and strengthening those muscle groups gives more support to the spine.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The stretching yoga involves relieves tension from muscles. If you have pain or an injury, muscles that have been carrying stress need to be relieved. Continued stretching will also improve flexibility and range of motion. Yoga poses also improve posture and spinal alignment. Training your body to function with better posture takes pressure off the spine and reduces back pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Chronic pain can often lead to a cycle of mental exhaustion and stress. The meditative origin of yoga encourages a quiet, relaxing environment in order to focus on exercise and breathing. The practice of yoga is also a preventative measure. Increasing your strength and flexibility helps your body defend against potential injury.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Where to Start</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Patients with back issues who haven’t tried yoga may feel like it is beyond their capabilities, but you don’t need to be limber and flexible to begin. It is recommended to find an instructor who has experience working with patients who suffer from back pain and it’s important to learn by following an instructor before practicing on your own. Many yoga poses have modified versions for beginners or anyone with limitations. An instructor can demonstrate the use of blocks and straps, which help give beginners extra support and balance.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I must admit, I love the term, “Active Adult Community.” It makes it sound as though moving to one means that you are suddenly going to be able to jog 5 miles a day, take up hang gliding and live like you are on a cruise ship. Its concept these communities were designed to inspire. A life spent pursuing your hobbies and interests without the worries of home maintenance and neighborhood children stomping on your daisies. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Usually, one must be at least 55 years old in order to move into a community. So why then, do people wait till they are in their 70’s to move into one? Could it be that inability to admit-we- are-aging-thing that so many people have?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Active Adult and Independent Living Communities are designed for people who no longer have children at home and who want to pursue a lifestyle not ruled by carpools and soccer games. They are for people who embrace their aging and aren’t weighed down by the feeling they need to hang onto a house because of the memories it holds. Houses don’t hold the memories of a lifetime. We, as individuals do. No matter where we go, the memories will follow.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Active Adult Communities should not be used as a “band aid” for the issues of aging. If dad is 92 years old, has trouble walking and is on oxygen 24/7, then an active adult community is NOT the right place for him.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, the issue really boils down to holding on to something longer than you should. What’s so bad about freeing yourself up from daily burdens in order to pursue things that make you happy? Like I said, I want to live in an Active Adult community and jog 5 miles a day…</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As I look at the performance of my own <a href="http://www.techtopics4u.com/" target="_blank"><b><u>TechTopics4U</u></b></a> blog site, I am impressed by how my following has grown, both organically and with my own self-promotion. For example, my site no longer has any zero-view days.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are my observations as to why you should use active blogging for achieving your professional goals:</div>
<blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Establish Yourself as an Expert in Your Field</u></b><br />
As you write more posts and share more of your expertise, your blog site will change from "just another blog" into a strong demonstration of your knowledge in a field. When somebody visits your site and sees the insights you have shared on a subject, along with the comments of people who respect and seek that insight, it will be clear that you are genuinely an expert in the field. Being an expert is a good thing. You may get consideration for new business, career advancement, or consulting opportunities.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>You Will Become a Better Communicator</u></b><br />
Just the discipline of sitting down and writing will improve your writing and communication skills. The more you blog, the more you write. Therefore, you will become a more effective communicator of your ideas.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Take Control of Your Online Identity</u></b><br />
Whether you are a person or business, there is probably a lot of information about you online. When somebody searches for you or your company online, you want to make sure that they get an accurate and complete picture of who you are and what you are passionate about. A blog is a great way for you to control your online identity and make sure that the top search engine results make the right first impression.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Build Your Professional Network</u></b><br />
Starting a blog is a great way to expand your professional network. A blog is a good platform for reaching out to others, who in turn will look to contact you. Interesting and relevant blog posts attract readers who will then comment on your site, and can send you personal messages through your "contact us" widget or page. Some of your readers will ask for help, while others will look to help you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Improve Your Visibility and SEO</u></b><br />
People search for and discover information online more than ever. Search engines want to deliver results that are helpful and relevant to their users. When you write a series of in-depth and valuable posts around a topic, search engines such as Google takes notice. Each blog post that you publish is another opportunity to get traffic from search results. In addition, the comments you receive on your blog posts implies that your blog postings are relevant, which will also improve the SEO visibility of you and your blog site.</div>

<b> Only Seniors, LLC</b><br />
<b> Crisis Manager and Consultant </b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remember when you were growing up and your mother told you, “No dessert until you finish your dinner.” She also imparted other words of wisdom like, “Eat all your vegetables to grow up big and strong." It was instilled in you that a balanced mean contained selections from the five basic food groups. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, why is it that when you now go to visit your elderly mother, she has cabinets full of cookies, pop-tarts and Entenmann’s pastries but nary a vegetable in sight? Who is this woman and where has your mother gone?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This phenomenon is quite common and a sign of several different issues. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If your mother is single, understand that it has become more of a chore to cook dinner for one than it was to cook for the whole family. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is also a sign of depression. Sugary foods are a treat and provide short term comfort. When mom is feeling lonely or sad, she turns to pop-tarts and the sadness disappears…temporally. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It can also be a sign of dementia. Mom is forgetting basic skills like cooking but she remembers how to open the Entenmann’s box. And as stated above, that box brings pleasure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, what is one to do? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The first thing to do is realize it is an issue. The next thing to do is to make a plan. Sit down and talk with mom to see what might be causing the issue. Dine with mom a couple times a week. Make sure she goes home with leftovers in microwavable containers. Look into some meal delivery programs, (store bought frozen dinners aren't the best option). Check in with mom to make sure she is eating.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Proper nutrition is important at all ages. </div>

<br />
Software accessed via the "Cloud" is a deployment model that provides access to software remotely. It may also be referred to simply as SaaS or as hosted applications. Since the software is vendor-hosted remotely, it removes the need for organizations to program, install, buy a lot of hardware for and regularly maintain the software.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Even though the implementation is a cloud-based, do you still to test the software? Yes, and here's why...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /><b><u>Risk Management</u></b><br />Testing verifies that the software and its delivery meet all of your requirements including functional, performance, security, integration and so on. This verification is done to ensure that you, along with the cloud vendor, have implemented the system correctly and as expected. In addition, testing validates that the system is what the user needs. In the end, validation is performed to help with risk management.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Meets User Needs</u></b><br />Functional testing is the most apparent tool you will have to validate that the product meets your corporate needs. The requirements are the foundation in effective functional testing. Using the original requirements, you can plan and manage tests that are focused on your specific business and user functional needs. Involve the user, either by them directly performing the tests or have them review and sign-off on the test results.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Performance Meets Service Level Agreement (SLA)</u></b><br />Load and Stress testing are a methods used to simulate real life scenario of a given system. It involves testing in real time beyond normal operational capacity in order to observe the results. Have anticipated metrics in place (e.g. maximum number of simultaneous users/connections, number of transaction per second, internet throughput, etc.). Then, measure your test results against the agreed upon performance. Work with the vendor to optimize performance that does not meet your specifications.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Meet's Security Requirements</u></b><br />Mitigating eternal security threats is a huge concern with cloud based software applications. You will rely on the security measures put in place by the vendor, which are largely outside of your control. You need to validate that the product meets the same password change control and user level security that your organization has set for itself. In addition, you need to continually monitor that the vendor is adhering to its own security protection (virus and malware protection, etc.). The level and types of security that you expect from the vendor must be put in the SLA and reviewed regularly by you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Data Integration with Other Systems</u></b><br />If one of your requirements is data integration with other systems within your inventory, you need to validate that the input and/or output work as agreed. Don't assume that when cloud-based applications use standard data interface files (e.g. CSV, XML, etc.) that the field formats delivered will match those of the other systems. Testing of standard files must be done with the same level of diligence as for or custom interfaces. If you requested custom interface files for your implementation, be sure your contract with the vendor specifies that they will maintain the interface format for as long as you are a customer, and not just the length of the current contract.</div>

But Is It?<b>By: Tom Callahan</b><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Why can’t we all just get along?” was the plea issued by Rodney King during the 1992 Los Angeles riots. He made simplistic request to try to quell the violence all around him. When it comes to making Elder Care decisions for loved ones, family members don’t always agree and then chaos ensues. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At the heart of the matter, is an elderly person who needs help. When multiple people have a say in the decision making process that means multiple opinions on the “right course of action.” This can lead to some heated exchanges as the dynamic switches away from the elderly person’s needs to an individual trying to prove his/her point. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Guess what – IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU! So stop trying to make it so. Unless you are a health care or senior living professional, realize that you don’t know the best course of action based solely on your relationship with your elder loved one. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Your job is to find solutions. Finding solutions means asking questions. Asking questions means consulting someone who has been through this process or someone who works in the elder care field. Asking for help doesn’t mean you are weak or have failed. It means that you are big enough to admit you don’t have all the answers and could use a little guidance. It means that you want to do the right thing and get your elder loved one the help that he/she needs and deserves.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Start the process by agreeing to the following:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Agree to work together</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Agree to discuss different opinions without making it personal</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Agree to ask questions and seek options</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Agree to disagree but still continue on working toward a solution</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Learn about different elder care options. Smart aging never gets old.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We hear the terms senior living and elder care thrown around and everyone seems to have a different opinion and answer for what they are. So in order to get a clearer understanding of the concepts, we must first ask more questions:</div>
<ol>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
What is a senior?</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
At what age does "senior living" start?</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Why should I be concerned or think about it now?</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Elder care - that's a nursing home, right?</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
How much does it cost?</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
That's covered by Medicare, right?</div>
</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Senior Living and Elder Care is an industry - SURPRISE! It is an industry dedicated to providing a lifestyle and support to people as they get older. It is comprised of many different parts, styles, age groups, socio-economic levels and care needs.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To better understand it, let's break it down according to the question:</div>
<ol>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
What is a senior? Typically, a senior is an older person who is retired and collecting a pension, (which can include social security). </div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
At what age does "senior living" start? The Senior Living and Elder Care Industry includes anyone who is pre-retirement, aged 55 and older in this category. </div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Why should I be concerned or think about it now? Because, whether we like it or not, we age everyday. Putting off thinking about or planning for the inevitable means that you may not save enough money or have enough insurance when you do get to be a senior. A wise man once said, "Failure to plan is a plan to fail." </div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Elder Care - that's a nursing home, right? Yes and no. A nursing home is merely one component of elder care. There is also Home Health Care, Assisted Living, Memory Care Communities, Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities, (NORCs), Continuing Care Retirement Communities, (CCRCs) and the list goes one. </div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
How much does it cost? How much do you have? Well, that's probably not enough. Yes, I know it’s not much of an answer, but it is the truth.</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
That's covered by Medicare, right? No, not all of it. Medicare covers doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays and rehabilitation. It does not cover senior living. See - I told you that you didn't have enough.</div>
</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the next coming months, each of these topics will be explored in much greater detail. Professionals from each aspect of senior living will be interviewed and give their insight on what you can do to be better prepared to face the future of your aging. We will have insights from financial advisors, elder care attorneys, assisted living and nursing home administrators. We will explore topics such as Medicare/Medicaid, wills, trusts, Long Term Care insurance, and Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our goal is to make you an educated consumer when it comes to senior living and elder care. We all have questions. So let’s explore the answers together.</div>

<o:p>Some tasks and projects require more urgency than others. However, if we consider everything to be urgent, we clog our work queue and confuse trivialities with important priorities. S</o:p>ometimes the challenge we face as a manager is to distinguish between what is actually urgent and what is not.<br />
<br />
Consider these tips to help you determine what truly is urgent.</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Don’t assume that “Urgent” means “Immediately”</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Explore with the person that made the request of you what they are really trying to accomplish and when it’s actually needed. Sometimes the sense of urgency is just a way of conveying a person’s importance and power, or even a reflection of personal anxiety. Giving that person a little bit of your time before starting on their request may be sufficient for them to be assured you understand their request and its urgency. Then, you will have the opportunity to determine when you will actually need to address the request.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Distinguish between an urgent crisis and an urgent request</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are times when people making a request have issues that need to be resolved right away, and diving in immediately is the right thing to do. But depending on your business, this may actually be the exception rather than the norm. Probe the person that made the request of you about what would happen if you got back to them in a couple of days or the next week. Often, as long as you commit to a specific completion time, that will be sufficient.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Be prepared to say "No"</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Good customer service doesn’t necessarily mean doing everything that the person requests. More importantly it means doing what is best for them, even when they may not realize it. Talk through the implications and outcomes of what the requester is asking for and make sure it’s the right thing to do. Explain your reason why in order to get them to understand and agree.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">Making an effective PowerPoint presentation is an acquired skill, and one that can help you succeed in your career. It's important to make sure you know what is necessary to deliver a good PowerPoint presentation before you step in front of a room filled with an expectant audience. Otherwise, whatever important information you present will likely be lost on your listeners.</span></div>
</div>
</td>

</tbody></table>
<b style="text-align: justify;"><u><br /></u></b>
<b style="text-align: justify;"><u>Write a Script</u></b><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A little planning goes a long way. Since the point of your slides is to illustrate and expand upon what you are going to say to your audience, you should first plan what you intend to say. Then, figure out how to visualize and present it in PowerPoint.<br />
<br />
<b><u>No Paragraphs</u></b><br />
Your slides are the illustrations for your presentation, not the presentation itself. They should underline and reinforce what you are saying as you give your presentation. Save the paragraphs of text for your script.
<br />
<br />
<b><u>One Point at a Time</u></b><br />
Plan your presentation so just one new point is displayed at any given moment. What should be on the screen is the thing you are talking about. Your audience will almost instantly read each slide as soon as it’s displayed. If you immediately display the next four points you plan to make, the audience will be three steps ahead of you waiting for you to catch up rather than listening with interest to the point you are making.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Avoid clutter</u></b><br />
A headline, a few bullet points, and maybe an image. Anything more than that and you risk losing your audience as they work to sort out the information on the slide.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Ask Questions of Your Audience</b></u><br />
Engage in a little Q&A with your audience. Questions arouse interest, pique curiosity, and involve audiences. Build tension or anticipation by posing a question and letting your audience think a moment before moving to the next slide with the answer.<br />
<br />
With a little preparation and attentiveness to the needs of your audience, you will effectively deliver the important information from your next PowerPoint presentation.</div>

You prepare goals for many situations. Whether for project management, employee performance management or personal development, use goals to validate a level of achievement and success. In order for a goal to provide value, it must clarify exactly what is expected and identify the measures used to determine if the goal is achieved. Your goals must be <u>SMART</u>!</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">S</span></b>pecific:</u> Clearly write and define what you are going to do. Your goal must identify what you will accomplish, an expected result, the purpose or benefit, who are involved, where the work will occur, and any external requirements or constraints to consider.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">M</span></b>easurable:</u> When your goal is measurable, you can determine the progress you are making towards its successful completion. It is difficult to stay motivated to complete your goal when it has no milestones to assess your progress.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">A</span></b>chievable:</u> While a goal should make you feel challenged, the goal should not be extreme. Do not set a goal that is out of reach or well above your ability to perform. You must possess the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to achieve the goal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">R</span></b>elevant:</u> Choose a goal that is important to successfully complete. Your goal needs to pertain directly to the performance or challenge you manage.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">T</span></b>ime-bound:</u> Give your goal a target date. A commitment to a deadline helps you focus your efforts on the completion of the goal on or before the due date. This is intended to prevent goals from being overtaken by the day-to-day crises that invariably arise, and to establish a sense of urgency.<br />
<br />
Setting goals is a powerful way of motivating people and of motivating yourself. <u>SMART</u> goals are effective in providing the details and clarity needed to ensure you complete your goals successfully.</div>

Cloud-based backup solutions enable companies or individuals to store their computer data and files via the Internet using a storage service provider rather than storing the data locally on a hard drive or tape backup. While the cloud backup solutions are robust and efficient, you need to be aware of the disadvantages, as well as the advantages to make an informed decision to determine that the technology is right for you.</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On-site backups are hard drives or other backup devices that are directly connected to your computer or network. You maintain all responsibility and control of the backup media and environment. Cloud-based backups are servers that connect remotely to your computer or network via the Internet. The storage service provider maintains responsibility and control of the backup media and environment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Advantages of a cloud-based backup solution, which you must validate and verify with each storage service provider you consider, are:<br />
<div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Backups of backups:</b> Your data is always stored off-site and is redundantly copied to other servers in different locations. If one location goes down, your data can be backed up, or retrieved from, elsewhere on the backup network without a service interruption.</li>
<li><b>Security:</b> Data is encrypted by the backup service provider’s software program on your computer or network before it is sent to the cloud, so thieves on the Internet cannot access it.</li>
<li><b>Virus protection:</b> The backup service software detects any virus or infection before data is sent. If a virus is found, that file is not copied to the backup service. You will be notified that the corrupted file has not been deleted from your computer. In this case, you won’t lose any data, but that data won’t be backed up online.</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div>
Disadvantages of a cloud-based backup solution are:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Cost:</b> Cloud-based backups can be more expensive than on-site backups often requiring monthly or annual fees based on the amount of data stored on the storage service provider's servers.</li>
<li><b>Capacity:</b> Cloud-based backups may not be best for large backups such as a large number of files, or very large files such as data bases. Since some Internet providers limit the amount of data you can send and receive in a month. You must be careful to avoid large backups that cause you to exceed their stop-limits or trigger over-utilization charges.</li>
<li><b>Speed:</b> It can take a long time to back up large backups online, even with a broadband connection.</li>
<li><b>Out of Business:</b> If the storage service provider goes out of business, you may never be able to recover your backed up data.</li>
</ul>

<div>
You may be able to mitigate the disadvantages of the cloud-based backup solution with a robust back up strategy. The cloud-based storage service provider can assist you with understanding the options they recommend and support. Make sure you understand how they can mitigate the disadvantages for both backing up and recovering your data.<br />
<br />
Both on-site and cloud-based backup storage options allow you to protect your data. Each type of backup solution has advantages and disadvantages. You need to be aware of the disadvantages, as well as the advantages, to make an informed decision to determine whether cloud-based backup storage is right for you.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fake emails, also called "spoof" or "phishing" emails, try to look like they are from real companies or people you know. They are a common way criminals use to steal your personal or financial information, such as bank account details, credit card information, passwords, etc. Fake emails often link to fake ("spoof") websites where your information can be collected as you type it. So, be very cautious!<br />
<br />
Here are some ways to determine that the email you received is a "spoof":</div>
</div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Fake Sender's Email Address</u></b><br />
You can check who sent the email by looking at the sender's address. For example, the message may say it’s from "South Bank", but the email address may be something unusual like "southbank_support@hotmail.com". A reliable company's email should not be using a public internet service provider account like Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo!, etc. Typically, real companies have their own domains. So, you should expect the email address to look something like "support@southbank.com".<br />
<br />
<b><u>Requesting Private Information</u></b><br />
Companies contacting you will not ask via email for your private information. Be very suspicious of emails requesting your social security number, account number, security code, personal identification number (PIN) or other sensitive information.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Not Addressed to You</b></u><br />
A legitimate email from a business with whom you have a relationship will address you by name rather than as “Valued Customer” (or something similar). Since a reliable business likely has a customer file with your contact information, they will address you directly.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Typos</u></b><br />
Emails which have misspellings or grammatical errors, or grammar that indicates they are not properly formatted for the language in which they are written, are additional signs that the message is a fake.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Incorrect Links</u></b><br />
Some email message will make a request for you to click on a link (e.g. View your account statement <span style="color: red;"><u>here</u></span>). Hover your mouse over the link to see the content of the link. Similar to "Fake Sender's Email Address" above, the link should have the company's URL in the beginning of the link (e.g. "www.southbank.com/customer/statement.aspx"). Don't click on a suspicious link. Clicking on a fake link will likely allow a hacker access to you computer and stored information, or will download malware to your computer.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Low Resolution Images</u></b><br />
Another tip-off to a fake email message is poor image quality of the company’s logo or other images in the message.<br />
<br />
<u><b>What if the Sender is Someone you Know?</b></u><br />
Spoof emails from people you know usually ask you for you to do something that a friend might not ask you to do, such as to click on a link to an unusual website. Sometimes, you will see that the "friend" sent the email to a number of email addresses in the "To" box. In this case, it is likely that your friend was "spoofed", which is causing that email account to contact you.<br />
<br />
<br />
When you suspect you received a fake email from a company with whom you do business, call that company's customer service department. Ask them about the content of the message. If the message is legitimate, the customer service department should be able to assist you with the message request. If the message is not legitimate, delete it right away.<br />
<br />
When you suspect you received a fake email from a somebody you know, send that person a separate, new email asking if they sent the prior message you received. Do not reply via the suspected message which may (or may not) be sent to them. If the person replies that the message is not legitimate, delete it right away.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Your heart is the reason you are reading this, it is the center of your cardiovascular system and is vitally responsible for giving your body life. Keeping your heart healthy may seem like a difficult task. After all, you have to maintain a nutritious diet, stay active, and manage things like cholesterol levels. Your heart health is something that should be taken very seriously. In recent years, studies have shown that chiropractic manipulations can help to prevent heart attacks, reduce heart rate, relieve chest pain, and lower blood pressure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, refers to a chiropractor applying manipulation with his or her hands to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function at their optimal peak. The object of this treatment method is to reduce the subluxation (trapped gas in the joint) with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritably and improving function. With chiropractic care, a patient may not only be able to manage the current condition of their heart, but they may be able to fend off heart disease for good.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How Chiropractic Care Helps the Heart</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Receiving chiropractic treatment doesn’t cure heart disease, but it can certainly help prevent it. Chiropractic adjustments can possibly treat people suffering from heart problems, specifically because chiropractic care is based on the theory that the nervous system is responsible for maintaining optimal health in the body. When there are disruptions in the spine, this can interfere with how efficiently the nervous system is transmitting information to the brain and other parts of the body. When the spine is misaligned, the normal function of the nerves is affected and vertebral subluxations have been shown to adversely reduce heart function. When the spine moves back in line, after a few chiropractic adjustments, the body is able to return to its natural state, benefiting the muscles, nerves, tissue, and most importantly, the heart beating in your chest.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although chiropractic care is mainly associated with alleviating soft tissue discomfort and musculoskeletal issues, the benefits extend way beyond manipulations of the spine. Please consult with your doctor to see if chiropractic treatment is right for you.

<br /></td><td style="border: 1pt currentColor; padding: 0in 5.4pt; width: 400pt;" valign="top" width="319">An organization uses succession planning to ensure that it recruits superior employees, develops their knowledge, skills, and abilities, and prepares them for advancement. You need to develop a succession plan to ensure that your employees are constantly developed to fill each needed role as the organization evolves.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As your organization expands, loses key employees and provides promotional opportunities, your succession plan guarantees that you have employees on hand ready and waiting to fill new roles. Through your succession planning process, you will retain superior employees because they appreciate the time, attention, and development that you are investing in them. To effectively do succession planning in your organization, you must identify the organization’s long term goals. In addition, successful succession planning builds bench strength to protect your organization against the challenges associated with these 3 occurrences:<br />
<br />
<b><u>Organizational Growth & Reorganization</u></b><br />
Organizational growth has the potential to provide a company with a variety of benefits, including greater efficiencies from economies of scale, increased marketplace visibility, a greater ability to withstand market fluctuations, greater profits, and increased prestige for employees. While it spurs job creation, organizational growth also has challenges. A company may outgrow the skills or abilities of its leaders and employees. All those involved may quickly become stressed out trying to keep up with the demands of expansion. Without proper succession planning, the expansion may become ineffective and stall.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Loss of a Key Employee</u></b><br />
Every corporation has key leaders or employees that make substantial contributions to the operation, profitability, and success of the business. Any individual who has critical intellectual information, sales relationships, product knowledge, and/or industry contacts that may adversely affect profits in the event of their absence, may be considered key. A succession plan will ensure that an organization can tolerate the short term and permanent loss of a key employee.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Easily Replace a Poor Performer</u></b><br />
A poorly performing employee can negatively affect team and organizational performance. Sometimes, they can undermine their coworkers' efforts through their incompetence or uncivil behavior. When attempts to correct their behavior or improve their performance fails, it may become necessary to terminate that employee. A robust succession plan will ensure that an organization will have cultivated other employees to fill the void caused by a staff termination. In addition, it will allow you to plan ahead to replace that employee with a new recruit in a timely fashion.</div>

The volume of email we receive is one
of the biggest productivity challenges that managers and their staff face.
Sorting through the daily deluge can consume an incredible amount of valuable
time that is much better spent elsewhere. The good news is that this is a solvable problem once you learn how to efficiently and effectively manage your everyday email communications.</div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Don’t Constantly Check For Email</b><o:p></o:p></u></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
Just like planning other
important work activities during your day, schedule daily time for email. Depending
on your typical email activity, plan to look at your email only at a specific time
each day. For example, 30 minutes before lunch and 30 minutes before you end your
work day. As an alternative for high volume email recipients, only check your email at specific time intervals,
such as every two hours.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Read Only the Subject Matter</b><o:p></o:p></u></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
Learn to quickly discard
irrelevant or unimportant messages right away by reading the subject matter and
the sender’s name. You will likely purge more than half of incoming messages
this way. Then, you can more efficiently attend to the important email messages.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Practice “OHIO”</b><o:p></o:p></u></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>O</u></b>nly <b><u>H</u></b>andle
<b><u>I</u></b>t <b><u>O</u></b>nce. Immediately decide what to do with each email message. Answer the important ones quickly instead of filing them away. If you don’t, and
you later are ready to answer them, you’ll spend a lot of time searching
through folders to find the needed message.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Create Topical Folders</b><o:p></o:p></u></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
For messages that you must
keep for a period of time, store them in a folder that is not your “Inbox” or “Sent
Mail” folders. Name the folder based on your need, such as by customer name or product name. Once you conclude the nature of that business, delete those
messages, and even the folder.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Email Trivia:</b></u> "Crackberry"
is a term used to describe the excessive use of checking email on a SmartPhone
(initially on a Blackberry device) by its owners, and is a reference to the unfortunate
addictive nature of crack cocaine. Use of the term "Crackberry"
became so widespread that in 2006 Webster's New World College Dictionary named
"Crackberry" the "New Word of the Year."<o:p></o:p><br />

<span style="text-align: justify;">“If I were given one hour to save the planet, I would spend 59 minutes defining the problem and one minute resolving it.” - Albert Einstein.
<br /><br />
It may be obvious that you can't solve a problem that's not well defined. However, people often neglect this detail. The next time you think you're ready to go into problem-solving mode, consider the following:</span></div>
</div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Establish the basic need for a solution</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why does the problem need solving? Articulate the problem in its simplest and most basic terms. Focus on the heart of the problem and the desired outcome, not the solution. This clarifies the importance of the problem, and helps to identify the resources needed to solve it. Defining the scope of the problem is also important to set the priority for its solution.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Justify the need</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Is the required effort aligned with the company's strategy? Explain why your organization should attempt to solve the problem. Understand if the effort to solve it is aligned with the company's strategy. It may be the case that an issue is perceived as a problem only because it is no longer aligned with the company's current strategy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Give it perspective</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What approaches have you or others already tried? Find out if there are already solutions to solving the problem that you can apply in this instance. Examining past efforts to solve the problem can save time and effort. In addition, determine if there are constraints on the solution that you must consider.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Write a problem statement</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take your answers to the above questions and write a full description of the problem you are seeking to solve and the requirements the solution must meet. This will establish a consensus on what the solution will be, the urgency, the effort required, and the resources required to achieving it.<br />
<br />
Companies and staff need to be effective at assessing issues and tackling problems. Without the above steps, a company can waste time, resources and costs, miss opportunities, and pursue initiatives that may not be aligned with the company's goals.</div>

With the growth of social media websites, and more businesses letting you do transactions via the Internet and mobile devices, you have a growing number of online logon ID's and passwords that you must remember. Every time you sign up at a new website, you face the challenge of what to enter as your password. Here are some password dangers you need to avoid, and steps you can take to mitigate them<span style="font-family: inherit;">:</span></div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Picking Bad Passwords</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Selecting a simple or common password that is easily remembered by you (e.g. “password”, “123456”, “qwerty”) is also easily guessed by hackers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A best practice is to create “strong” passwords that are difficult to guess. Strong passwords have all of these qualities:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
•<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Length of 8 or more characters</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
•<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Includes a mix of upper and lower case letters</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
•<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Includes numbers</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
•<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Includes special characters (e.g. !, @, #, %, etc.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Not Locking Your Mobile Devices</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With new mobile devices, the default setting is to not have an unlock code to access the device. If you lose your phone and don’t have an unlock code, and you don’t have a way to remotely wipe it, the finder has free reign to go through your emails, contacts, apps and other personal information you store on, or access via, your device.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As soon as you set up your new mobile device or phone, create an unlock code or password.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Reusing Passwords Across Multiple Sites</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You run the risk that if one of the website sites you use gets hacked and the website doesn’t store passwords in encrypted format, hackers will use automated programs to scan 1000’s of websites trying to see if your username and password works on one of them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To mitigate this issue, use a number of different logon ID and password combinations. This is especially true for “like” accounts. If you have multiple bank or credit card accounts from different banks, use a different logon ID and password for each. That way if a hacker does learn the access for one, the hacker does not have the access to the others.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Sharing Your Passwords</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When you share your password, you share your identity and possibly your personal and financial information. If you share your password with someone that uses that information to commit a crime, you will likely become a suspect in that crime.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do not share your logon ID and password with others.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Not Changing Your Passwords</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Having old passwords means that someone who previously had access to your accounts, still has access to your accounts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Change your passwords several times each year. It could be as simple as changing one character. In addition, do not reuse prior passwords within the same logon ID.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Writing Your Passwords Down</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you write your passwords down on a piece of paper, remember that it’s just a piece of paper. You run the risk that you may lose it, it may not be with you when you need to login on, or someone may simply take that piece of paper and gain access to your accounts.<br />
<br />
Do not write down your passwords on a piece of paper.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There other high-tech ways to secure passwords and account access, such as password storage programs, biometric readers and smart cards. Some are costly or require the host system to accommodate them. We'll investigate those in a future post.<br />

<span style="text-align: justify;">Difficulties with the integration of systems is a challenging obstacle organizations face when planning growth. Sometimes systems you need to integrate reside on different operating systems, use different database solutions and computer languages, and may be legacy systems that a vendor no longer supports. So how can you ensure a successful systems integration project?</span></div>
</div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<u><b><br /></b></u>
<u><b>Agree on business needs</b></u>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Integrating different systems almost always involves addressing the needs of multiple departments. It’s crucial to build consensus among all departments as to what are the core business needs, and identify the priorities of those needs. Without clarity around the requirements and priorities, the solution can become a messy process that leads to project overrun.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Analyze and review all technical requirements</b></u><br />
Identify the installation and integration requirements each system has to run smoothly and properly. This will include operating environment, input data and format, output data and format, reporting, error handling, and operator intervention. In addition to identifying each specific requirement, identify the differences of those between the integrating systems. Where you identify differences, create a specific plan making each point compatible and reliable.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Document everything</b></u><br />
Embrace detail. Information that does not seem important at the beginning may prove critical further down the line. You will need to refer back to the documentation as issues and new requirements arise.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Access skills needed to perform the integration</b></u>
<br />
Take stock of the skills, backgrounds and timely availability of the in-house resources already accessible to you. Then, determine the skills and availability that you need to complete your project. If there are gaps between those two reviews, consider bringing in new hire staff, external contractors or technicians from the product vendor. In addition, plan time to train or hire staff that will provide needed post implementation operational support.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Expect the unexpected</b></u>
<br />
As the systems integration project progresses, people may uncover new needs or unplanned issues. Review each new need and issue against the agreed business needs and priorities before changing the project scope. Update the documentation when you agree on a scope change. Plan to separately perform the deferred new needs to post implementation.<br />
<br />
Agreeing in advance to the goals and priorities for any systems integration project, along with proper planning, are the keys to its successful implementation and acceptance.</div>

<span style="color: black;">
</span><span style="color: black;">
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whew New Jersey! Depending where you are, you’re able to see anywhere from 14″- 33″ of snow outside your window right now. What to do? Well, how about getting out and making some pictures! Before you plunge headlong into the nearest snowdrift, check out a few of our tips for making the most of your time with your camera in the snow: <br />
<br />
<strong>1. Bundle up and stay safe.</strong> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGYNDDW7RdNlMbLIriWSAwjH2Cb0WuHdbuiydKlHDLTrCmyyP_C9Ug7MeUHryO3gGNy5oYUB_rnTHRsFDxyZTx5ET1XH96o4_-7msjYIpiAZy_7ygngu2M9HRAkCjrGwKpmtzvHFQtj4/s1600/sayen.gardens.trellis.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="477" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGYNDDW7RdNlMbLIriWSAwjH2Cb0WuHdbuiydKlHDLTrCmyyP_C9Ug7MeUHryO3gGNy5oYUB_rnTHRsFDxyZTx5ET1XH96o4_-7msjYIpiAZy_7ygngu2M9HRAkCjrGwKpmtzvHFQtj4/s640/sayen.gardens.trellis.jpg" width="620" /></a></div>
<br />
This is first and foremost. If you are not dressed appropriately at best the whole experience will be uncomfortable, at worst, dangerous. Frostbite sets in quickly, especially on wet fingers and toes. Be mindful of where you walk – overhanging snow and ice can come down at any time. Tell somewhere where you’ll be and when you expect to be home.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br />
<strong>2. Protect your camera.</strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You’ll likely be carrying a camera worth a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars – do what you can to protect it from the elements. Keep your lens cap on until ready to shoot. Try to avoid blowing on the lens….the warm breath you generate can form a thin layer of ice or condensation (you did bring your microfiber cloth to wipe it, right?). <br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>3. Manage image exposure. </strong><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Cy6jdIXIh6_Bz_eiwxfVG8SZIE2P27OZjhyJ6iRI-xav2eT1aPAZo-Yg2M0jBinBxU0IN9T2kRdyWegNBVAh1q6QtNbrA7JAxAMcBq8Zc9fKcl0F_A__Ywp0BOSoA3Lns7WF_vjPMO8/s1600/westlakepark.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Cy6jdIXIh6_Bz_eiwxfVG8SZIE2P27OZjhyJ6iRI-xav2eT1aPAZo-Yg2M0jBinBxU0IN9T2kRdyWegNBVAh1q6QtNbrA7JAxAMcBq8Zc9fKcl0F_A__Ywp0BOSoA3Lns7WF_vjPMO8/s640/westlakepark.jpg" width="620" /></a></div>
<br />
Without getting into a deep technical discussion regarding camera exposure – trust us when we tell you your camera’s sensor always looks to find a neutral 18% grey in your image. So when you’re out shooting those brilliant white landscapes….your camera will likely dull the actual capture to approximate a grey. Who wants grey snow? NOT US! If you are comfortable shooting in Aperture Mode on your camera, and/or dialing up +1 stop of exposure compensation on your camera to help the whites stay white, you’ll likely be much happier with the result.<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>4. Preserve your work.</strong> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzCcbEIvNfu7oKnfX9zxTO-axUuj9NF8EUrOtYTt29tsKvLZi-yDTkDEqaA-suJ3r4kKFsRPX9_DE7yiFH8po3to_TXHbB1hDKy2wbPL2fu9SdVnkZPP44f49CB-E_80M9aLpYWexQqqQ/s1600/mcountypark.dock.frozen.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="853" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzCcbEIvNfu7oKnfX9zxTO-axUuj9NF8EUrOtYTt29tsKvLZi-yDTkDEqaA-suJ3r4kKFsRPX9_DE7yiFH8po3to_TXHbB1hDKy2wbPL2fu9SdVnkZPP44f49CB-E_80M9aLpYWexQqqQ/s640/mcountypark.dock.frozen.jpg" width="580" /></a></div>
<br />
When you’re done and headed back to the car or to home. Pull your memory card out of the camera and pop the camera into a ziploc bag and seal it. This way any condensation that will be formed when the camera begins to warm up will form on the ziploc bag, and not ON, or most importantly, IN, your camera with it’s sensitive electronics. </div>

</span><span style="text-align: justify;"></span><br />
<span style="text-align: justify;">Making an effective PowerPoint presentation is an acquired skill, and one that can help you succeed in your career. It's important to make sure you know what is necessary to deliver a good PowerPoint presentation before you step in front of a room filled with an expectant audience. Otherwise, whatever important information you present will likely be lost on your listeners.</span></div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<b style="text-align: justify;"><u><br /></u></b>
<b style="text-align: justify;"><u>Write a Script</u></b><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A little planning goes a long way. Since the point of your slides is to illustrate and expand upon what you are going to say to your audience, you should first plan what you intend to say. Then, figure out how to visualize and present it in PowerPoint.<br />
<br />
<b><u>No Paragraphs</u></b><br />
Your slides are the illustrations for your presentation, not the presentation itself. They should underline and reinforce what you are saying as you give your presentation. Save the paragraphs of text for your script.
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><u>Avoid clutter</u></b><br />
A headline, a few bullet points, and maybe an image. Anything more than that and you risk losing your audience as they work to sort out the information on the slide.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">M</span></b>easurable:</u> When your goal is measurable, you can determine the progress you are making towards its successful completion. It is difficult to stay motivated to complete your goal when it has no milestones to assess your progress.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">R</span></b>elevant:</u> Choose a goal that is important to successfully complete. Your goal needs to pertain directly to the performance or challenge you manage.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

There are a number of approaches to managing a project including lean, iterative, incremental, and phased approaches. Regardless of the methodology used, careful consideration must be given to the overall project objectives, timeline, and cost, as well as the roles and responsibilities of all participants and stakeholders. Following these 5 P’s when starting a project will help ensure success.</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Proper:</u></b> Regardless of what type of project you will undertake, there is a proper way to approach and execute each task. There are steps to follow and specific tools you will need in order to complete any project efficiently and skillfully. If you don’t know how to do something, get as much information as you can from reliable sources so that you do not miss any important steps, use the wrong tools, or attempt something outside of your skill set.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Planning:</u></b> Thoughtful, detailed planning is very important when starting a project. Start by making a list of the steps or tasks that identify what you want to accomplish (scope of work), who will be involved (the stakeholders and roles), and what will you need to make it all happen (the participants, tools and budget). Be specific and research each task so that every detail has been addressed and nothing has been overlooked.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Prevents:</u></b> It is always a good idea to have a Plan B in place so that you are ready to address issues as they arise. Establishing a backup plan will prevent costly delays that can occur during a project’s execution.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Poor:</u></b> If something is done poorly, why bother. Cutting corners to save money will result in a difficult execution and disappointing results. If you think hiring someone else to take on the project is expensive, wait until you see how much an ineffective manager will cost.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Performance:</u></b> If you keep focused and stay actively involved with each phase of your project, every member of your team will work together to produce the best possible results.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Effective negotiation helps you to resolve a situation where what you want conflicts with what someone else wants. While some believe it is best to negotiate with the expectation of getting what they want regardless of the needs of the other party, the better approach is to get what you want while considering the needs of the other party. Negotiate to Win-Win, not to win.</div>
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">When you don't expect to deal with the other party ever again, or you do not need their goodwill, then it may be appropriate to play “hardball", seeking to win a negotiation while the other party loses out. Many people go through this when they buy or sell a house, which may be one reason why negotiating a house purchase can be an unpleasant experience. However, this approach is not much good for negotiating with people with whom you have (or expect to have) an ongoing relationship, such as a vendor, service provider, employer, etc.</span><br />
<br />
Playing hardball with someone with whom you have an ongoing relationship may damage that relationship and lead to reprisals later. Using tricks and manipulations during a negotiation to disadvantage the other party will certainly undermine trust. While a manipulative person may not get caught if negotiations are infrequent, this will not be the case when people work together routinely. In that case, fairness, honesty and openness are the best policies.<br />
<br />
The negotiation itself should be a careful evaluation of your position and the other person's position, with the goal of finding a mutually acceptable compromise that gives you both as much of what you want as possible. In an ideal situation, you will find that the other person wants what you are prepared to give, and that you are prepared to give what the other person wants. For a negotiation to be "win-win", both parties should feel positive about the negotiation once it's over. This helps people keep good working relationships afterwards.<br />

<o:p><span style="color: black;">Before you say or write anything, you need to consider the makeup of your audience and try to anticipate the type of presentation they want to hear. Salespeople are no strangers to the concept of “putting yourself in the buyer’s position.” It means that the seller (you) will consider what points to present, and your means to present those points.</span></o:p></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do not assume all of the people in your audience have the same perspectives as you. Everyone has different educations, income levels, present life situations. These individual life experiences are what will that form their perspective on any presented topic.
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You may have heard the expression, "Open with a joke". It's often what someone hears as a point of advice when preparing for a presentation or important meeting. Opening a meeting or presentation with a joke can be a great ice breaker or put others at ease. Since technical topics can sometimes be difficult to grasp, it can also assist you in grabbing attention or creating a bond between you and your "audience". Be sensitive in a meeting or presentation that your audience will be composed of people who will all have different perceptions. Some may not appreciate your joke.

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Knowing your audience — their beliefs, attitudes, age, education level, job functions, language and culture — is the single most important aspect of developing your successful presentation.</div>
